Vera Lynn Turns 103

Dame Vera Lynn turned 103 on Friday 20th March and marked the special occasion with a new video to her wartime classic and Wise Music favourite 'We'll Meet Again'. In the video, which features archive footage of her performing the anthem, Vera urges the nation to "keep smiling and keep singing" during these difficult times. To celebrate the incredible birthday and to keep everyone "smiling and singing", we have created a playlist of all the Wise Music tracks covered by the great Vera Lynn. Listen here

Wise Music Signs The Beamish Brothers

Embassy Music Publishing, part of Wise Music Group, have signed a worldwide publishing agreement with rising Australian pop duo, The Beamish Brothers, for their debut album Brutalism. Ben and Jeremy Beamish, the multi-talented siblings who hail from Toowoomba, are handcrafting a new flavour of intelligent alt-pop music, “a signature style sitting harmoniously between the worlds of folk, soul and pop” (Vicky Hebbs, Amplify). After successful tours of the US, Spain, Japan and Korea, the brothers are ready to ride the wave of success with their debut EP Brutalism. The 4 track EP features the latest single Crying No Tears, a ballad of beautifully laid harmonies and emotion that encapsulates the feeling of seeing someone you love hit rock bottom while still putting on a brave face. The debut music video for their first single from the EP, Kills Me Every Time, continues to receive a tremendous amount of attention with over 80,000 streams on Spotify and over 64,000 on their music video alone. Fallulah Releases Latest Single

Fallulah released her new single 'Broken Soldier' at the end of February which comes off her up-coming EP All My Eyes Are Open Part II. Fallulah said of the track "The song is really special to me. Of course they all are but some just mean that bit extra. I wrote it after a very dark time in my life where I had felt so disconnected from myself, from my purpose and the love of music and from true lightness and joy. The answer was to start treating myself as a friend. It has taken a long time and some rough lessons but I'm finally getting there! Listen here

New Single By Rachel Portman Out Via Node Records

Last Friday 6th March Node Records, part of Wise Music Group, released the new single 'Leaves and Trees' from award-winning composer Rachel Portman. Of the single, Rachel stated 'Leaves and Trees' took as its starting point the sense of being immersed within the upper branches of a beech tree in late spring. The leaves are at their freshest and greenest, and the light is refracted through them as they move in the breeze. The music is an expression of that feeling. It's impossible to say what happens when trying to evoke my response to those leaves and trees as no thinking can happen in order to allow music to write itself. Listen here

Christopher Paul Stelling's Album Best Of Luck Out Now

Folk singer-songwriter Christopher Paul Stelling released his album Best of Luck on February 7th via ANTI Records.Produced by Ben Harper, the album features an all-star rhythm section with Jimmy Paxson (Stevie Nicks, Dixie Chicks) on drums, and upright bass player Mike Valerio (Randy Newman, LA Philharmonic). Hildur Guðnadóttir Wins Academy Award

Hildur Guðnadóttir has become only the fourth woman ever to win an Academy Award for Best Orginial Score for her beautiful music to Todd Philips's Joker. The Icelandic-born, Berlin-based composer said in her acceptance speech, 'To the girls, to the women, to the mothers, to the daughters, who hear the music bubbling within, please speak up. We need to hear your voices'. This win caps off an incredible award season which also saw Hildur awarded the Golden Globe, the Critics' Choice Award and the BAFTA for Joker, as well as an Emmy and a Grammy for her score to the critically acclaimed television series Chernobyl. Wise Music Group Signs Evan Dando

Evan Dando of The Lemonheads has signed a publishing agreement with Wise Music USA, part of Wise Music Group. The worldwide deal includes all of Evan’s work to date, including hit songs such as “It’s a Shame About Ray,” “My Drug Buddy,” “Confetti,” “Rudderless,” and “Big Gay Heart.” Evan Dando comments:“I’m super excited that for the first time in my career, all of my publishing will be with one company under the same roof. I’m looking forward to a successful partnership with Wise Music.” Tomas Wise, CEO of Wise Music USA says: “Growing up my brothers and I listened to The Lemonheads religiously. We were their biggest fans. I could not be more thrilled to be representing their music today. Everyone at Wise Music is excited to work with Evan and his team and are squinting at the bright future ahead.” The Lemonheads will join Adam Ant’s 2020 “Friend or Foe” tour as the special guests for the dates of May 9th in Seattle, May 14th in Oakland, and May 16th in Los Angeles.

Ólafur Arnalds Signs To Wise Music Group

Ólafur Arnalds has signed an exclusive worldwide publishing deal with Bosworth Music GmbH. The catalogue includes Flow 1 and Flow 2 from Ekki Hugsa 360°, a commission from the Reeperbahn Festival, plus all upcoming works. Ólafur Arnalds comments:“I am thrilled to be joining the Bosworth / Wise Music family’s close-knit community. Hildur Guðnadóttir Wins Bafta Award For Best Original Score

Hildur Guðnadóttir has become the first ever solo female winner of the BAFTA Award for Best Original Score for her beautiful work on Joker. This is the third tme this year that Hildur has made history, alongside becoming the first solo female winner of the Golden Globe for Best Original Score, again for Joker, and the first solo female winner of the Grammy Award for Best Original Score Soundtrack for Chernobyl. In her BAFTA acceptance speech, Hildur described working on the film as a 'journey of a lifetime' and an 'honour to create it with so many amazing artists'. Watch Hildur's acceptance speech here

Dustbowl Revival Release Is It You, Is It Me

Dustbowl Revival have released their latest album Is It You, Is It Me. Out today, 31st January, via their own Medium Expectations label through Thirty Tigers, the new album sees the celebrated band push the boundaries of their genre-defying style further; a style which incorporates everything from folk to fun to New Orleans swing. The result is nothing like anything they have created during their four-album run. The band's frontman Zach Lupetin says 'We've always tried to explore different sounds within American/roots music and never wanted to stay in one place, which maybe confuses some people but also intrigues other people who always want to see what's happeneing next'. Hildur Guðnadóttir Becomes First Solo Female Winner Of Grammy For Best Score Soundtrack

The Grammy Awards 2020 took place on the evening of Sunday 26th January and Music Sales are delighted to announce Hildur Guðnadóttir has become the first ever solo female winner of the Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media for Chernobyl. This Grammy is added to an Emmy Guðnadóttir has also won for this work as well as a recent Golden Globe Award and Oscar and Bafta Nomination for her Joker score. Ola Gjeilo's Latest Album 'Night' Out On 24th January

Ola Gjeilo is set to release his latest album Night on Friday 24th January through Decca Classics. Five singles have been released to great success with 'Still' and 'Before Dawn' being No.1 and No.5 on Apple Music's Classical Top Charts, and 'Breaking Dawn' also the No.1 track on Apple Music's Piano Chill playlist. Christopher Paul Stelling Releases Latest Single Off Up-coming Album

Christopher Paul Stelling has released his latest single 'Lucky Stars' off his upcoming album Best Of Luck alongside a video for the track. The album, due for release 7th February on ANTI, is produced by Ben Harper and will feature an all-star rhythm section with Jimmy Paxson (Stevie Nicks, Dixie Chicks) on drums, and upright bass player Mike Valerio. Hildur Guðnadóttir Wins At Golden Globes

Hildur Guðnadóttir has won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score for her haunting soundtrack to Joker. Nominated alongside Randy Newman, Alexandre Desplat, Thomas Newman and Daniel Pemberton, Guðnadóttir's win makes her the first-ever solo female winner in this category. In her acceptance speech, Guðnadóttir thanked Joker director Todd Phillips and star Joaquin Phoenix for their support; "Thank you, Todd, for inviting me on the journey of a lifetime, for all the trust and your faith and openness. AWVFTS Release New Video And Announce 2020 Tour

A Winged Victory For The Sullen, made up of Adam Wiltzie and Dustin O'Halloran, last week announced a 2020 tour following the release of their album The Undivided Five last month. Tour dates include shows throughout the UK, including two nights at the Round Chapel in London in February. Alongside this annoucenment was the release of a video for 'Aqualung, Motherfucker', a track off their latest album. Watch the video here

Mambo Man Set For 2020 Release

Tumi Productions have just completed Mambo Man, the debut feature film by Mo Fini and Edesio Alejendro - two of the original Godfathers of the Cuban music scene. The soundtrack is filled with tracks from the Music Sales catalogue which includes contributions from some of Cuba's most influential musical legends. Mambo Man tells the story of JC, a Cuban farmer and music promoter, struggling to make ends meet, who gambles everything on a once in a life-time deal and will be released in 2020. Joe Stilgoe's Christmas Album Secures 4 Star Rating

Joe Stilgoe's Christmas Album has secured a 4* rating from The Mail on Sunday. The album, released on November 15th, was reviewed alongside a number of global acts with The Mail saying it was "at the upper end: traditional but not predictable, smooth but never unctous". The album features original songs as well as a number of festive classics, including 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas', released as a single today. Listen here

Adrian Leung To Release EP Under Moniker Drexler

Adrian Leung is set to release his first EP, The Confluence, under the moniker, Drexler. The EP consists of three solo piano recordings, stripping piano back to it's most raw and intimate tone, and will be released via Sonder House on Friday 22nd November. This will be followed by a full-length album at the beginning of next year.

WaqWaq Kingdom's Essaka Hoisa To Be Released November 15th

WaqWaq Kingdom will release their latest album Essaka Hoisa on Friday 15th November. The record, the first under the new line-up of Shigeru Ishihara - aka DJ Scotch Egg - and Kiki Hitomi, draws influence and imagery from traditional Japanese history and mythology, whilst staying true to WaqWaq Kingdom's endless range of stylistic adventures, with the album blending between traditional Japanese and contemporary electronic, Jamaican dancehall and experimental music.

Dustin O'Halloran Releases Sundoor

November 8th saw the release of Sundoor, Dustin O’Halloran’s latest solo EP and his first under a new deal with Deutsche Grammophon. Sundoor comprises a single 20-minute piece entitled ‘196 Hz’, adapted from a 2017 site-specific composition for cross-disciplinary American artist Slater Bradley’s installation at the Church of Mary Magdalene in Venice, Italy, during the Venice Biennale.
